A major disappointement to me in this primary is that Duncan Hunter hasn’t gotten more publicity. Obviously, it is because he has so little money and with the new campaign finance reform, it’s close to impossible for anybody without hundreds of millions of their own dollars to get any attention. I’m pretty sure Duncan Hunter is the only candidate with a son who served in Iraq. Also, Hunter has a great war-record an doesn’t boast about it. Hunter is the most conservative candidate in the race and has my vote in the primary… Unless he drops out.

Thank you for this post. The link is very interesting and points the press’ role as gatekeeper for the election. Is it appropriate for private coporations to limit some candidates exposure by not allowing all candidates to participate in a debate?

I really don’t think it’s fair to limit candidates exposure like that, but that’s just me. I do see both sides, but it just seems that it’s getting harder and harder for smaller candidates with less exposure and less money to have a chance of winning. Especially with recent campaign finance reforms. It seems like you have to already have a big name– like “Clinton” or “McCain”– to get anywhere in presidential elections. For that reason, I disagree with not allowing some candidates to participate in a debate.
